Scholarship Information

   1Lt. Bruce Hutchinson (Squadron Commander), Capt. Stephen Mayer (Deputy Commander for Cadets), and LtC Candi Jones (Scholarship Officer), are available to assist you in anyway possible. Cadets who are ages 17 - 22 are eligible to apply to a US Military Academy. High School cadets should apply by the spring of their Junior year. Check your Congressperson's web page for Constituent Services, Academy Appointments.

CAP:
    Log onto the national web page at: www.cap.gov This brings up all CAP scholarships. The CAP application form can be downloaded from the bottom of this page. Please also note this web page is linked to a site called "A Great Scholarship Search Site".

NATIONAL GUARD:
    The site for the New York National Guard is: www.dmna.state.ny.us When the cover web page comes up, double click on the "How to get your degree tuition free" directly under the image of Uncle Sam in the center of the page. Please note that in New York there are the NY Air Guard (contact MSgt. Armour R. Funderburg, at 716-692-6195 or 716-236-3067), the NY Army Guard (contact Sgt. Cryer at 585-783-5301), NY Naval Militia, and SEMO (State Emergency Management Office). All offer the same program of $3,400 toward tuition. We currently have one senior member enlisted in the Army National Guard: P1C Jennifer Hill, who has transferred to Tennessee.

ROTC, RESERVES, AND ACTIVE DUTY:
    Cadets interested in entering the US Army in any capacity should contact Col. Rita Cucchiara at Rita.Cucchiara@hq.cege.army.mil The US Military Academy at West Point web page is located at: www.usma.edu We have one cadet, Col. Adam Cucchiara, at West Point. The US Army web page is located at: www.army.mil c/2nd Lt Keith R. Boarman, jboarman@rochester.rr.com, is currently training for Army Special Forces at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. US Army ROTC information is available at www.armyrotc.com. We currently have two cadets enlisted in the Army ROTC: c/Capt. Anthony J. Rocco, Emery Riddle Univ., Arizona and c/Capt. Jennifer I. Camp, Jennifer_I_Camp@yahoo.com , SUNY Brockport. The US Army Reserves web page is: www.army.mil/usar An RCS parent, Col. James Marasco, 98th Div. of Army, is present at most meetings. Capt. Paul Cannon, an RCS pilot, is also from the 98th Div.

   Cadets interested in entering the US Air Force Academy should contact LtC Alan Quittenton at 585-275-0593. LtC Quittenton is Admissions Liaison to the USAF Academy, and a Guest On Call for our Squadron. Cadets can obtain a pre-candidate questionnaire form by calling 719-333-2990. The Air Force Academy web page is located at www.usafa.af.mil We currently have two ex-cadets enrolled at the USAF Academy: c/1Lt. Kyle Waite (C05Kyle.Waite@usafa.edu) and c/2d Lt Colin D. Kubera (C06Colin.Kubera@usafa.edu). The Air Force web page is located at: www.airforce.com Capt. Chuck Blocker (Administration) and 2nd Lt. Kevin Chalmers (Air Traffic Controller) are both ex-USAF. c/CMSgt Daniel Bauersmith is currently at Sheppard AFB, TX and c/2nd Lt. Jeff Getgen is currently at Lackland AFB, TX. Cadets interested in entering USAF ROTC should contact Col. Lance Dickinson, Professor of Aerospace, Air Force ROTC, Rochester Institute of Technology at 585-475-5196 or c/Maj. Patrick R. Applegate, the RIT AFROTC Cadet Commander (NER NY R02) at pra4930@rit.edu, and he is present at most meetings.    The Merchant Marine Academy at King’s Point, NY has a web page located at www.usmma.edu. c/SMS Michael Mantelli, mikmantel3@juno.com, recently interviewed at the Merchant Marine Academy.

OTHER ACADEMY AND AVIATION OPPORTUNITIES:
   Embry Riddle Aeronautical University: We currently have four cadets enrolled at Emery Riddle: c/SMSgt Matthew Herring (’05) and c/SMSgt William C. Day (’06) at Emery Riddle, Dayton Beach, Florida Campus, and c/Capt Anthony Rocco (’05) to Emery Riddle, Prescott, Arizona Campus, and c/2nd Lt. Ashley Cunningham (’07) at the Prescott, Arizona Campus. Information about Embry Riddle Aeronautical University can be obtained on their web page located at: www.embryriddle.edu.
   Jacksonville University: We currently have one senior officer who graduated Jacksonville University, Florida in 2003 becoming a CFII commercial airline pilot: c/LtC Matt Mayer.    Valley Forge Military Academy & College: One cadet has transferred from Valley Forge Military College to the US Air Force Academy. He is c/1Lt Kyle Waite (’05). Valley Forge Military Academy & College is where Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf began his military career. Their web page is located at: www.vfmac.edu.
VFMAC offers a Summer Camp each year for males only ages 8-16.
   Mohawk Valley Community College: We currently have one ex-cadet at MVCC studying to become a commercial airline pilot: c/A1C Chris R. Wahl (’04). Their Professional Pilot Degree curriculum is available on-line at: www.mvcc.edu. Mohawk Valley Community College is a SUNY college located in Rome and Schenectady, NY.
   Daniel Webster College: We currently have one cadet at DWC studying to become a commercial airline pilot: c/2d Lt. Justin E. McGory (’07). Their curriculum is available on-line at: www.dwc.edu.
